Ca La Bionda

Azienda Agricola Ca’ la Bionda is located in the commune of Marano di Valpolicella, within the historic “classic” zone of Valpolicella. Founded in 1902 by Pietro Castellani, the winery is now managed by the fourth generation of the family, with brothers Alessandro serving as the winemaker and Nicola as the viticulturalist. The estate spans 28 hectares of hillside vineyards, situated at altitudes ranging from 150 to 300 meters with an east-southeast exposure.

The wines of Ca’ la Bionda are true reflections of the land and the Marano Valley, crafted exclusively from native grape varieties using traditional winemaking techniques. Since 2000, the winery has practiced organic viticulture, with official organic certification achieved in 2016. This certification underscores the commitment to strict organic principles, ensuring that no chemical pesticides, herbicides, insecticides, or synthetic fertilizers are used. In the winery, only indigenous yeasts are employed, and sulfur dioxide levels are kept to a quarter of what is allowed in conventional winemaking.

In 2008, Ca’ la Bionda, alongside other like-minded producers, helped establish FIVI (Federazione Italiana Vignaioli Indipendenti). This organization represents independent winemakers who oversee every aspect of production, from growing their own grapes to vinifying, bottling, and marketing their wines.
