The Dido Blanc had less skin contact, to try to counterbalance the ripeness of the year, something they started in 2022. It’s a year with a more generous expression, but there’s purity in the wines. They achieved good balance, a very clean nose and a medium-bodied palate with 13.5% alcohol.

Dido, La Universal Montsant White 2022	92+ Wine Advocate I also tasted the 2022 Dido Blanc, which has more exuberant notes of quince, yellow plums and peach. It’s riper, with 13.71% alcohol and lower acidity, and it’s a little cloudier and darker in color, a deep golden. The wine is more voluptuous, with more volume, and it has a rounder feeling to it in general. 15,552 bottles and 184 magnums were produced. It was bottled in December 2023. 92 Decanter Pine resin aromas. Rich caramel, honey, orange peel and spice. Tangy acidity, oxidative complexity and a long finish. Dido, La Universal Montsant White 2023	94 Wine Advocate The 2023 Dido Blanc had less skin contact, to try to counterbalance the ripeness of the year, something they started in 2022. It’s a year with a more generous expression, but there’s purity in the wines. They achieved good balance, a very clean nose and a medium-bodied palate with 13.5% alcohol. There’s a little more Macabeo, 55%, with 30% Garnacha Blanca and 15% Xarel.lo, mostly from direct pressing. It fermented in foudre and spent a longer time in concrete, around eight months. There’s a flinty note, reminiscent of struck match, lots of flowers and herbs and an austere and stony palate. I found it superb, better than previous years. They accidentally found what they were looking for with the direct pressing of the Garnacha… 93 Vinous The 2023 Dido from Montsant blends Macabeu, Garnatxa Blanca and Cartoixà, with brisat-style vinification on the Macabeu. Orange notes, reduction, soft apricot and grated apple open the wine. It is expressive and energetic, with grip, compact freshness and an alcoholic push reflecting the vintage.
