Domaine Laurent Martray
Laurent Martray represents the fourth generation of his family’s winemaking legacy in Brouilly, having assumed full responsibility in 1987. He is now regarded as a leading Beaujolais producer, known for elevating the quality of the Brouilly cru. As part of a new wave of winemakers, Martray focuses on the region’s potential for crafting long-lived, world-class wines. His vineyards boast some of the oldest vines in Beaujolais, ranging from 50 to over 100 years old. Martray ages his wines exclusively in used barrels, allowing the pure expression of his low-yielding vines.
His vineyards are primarily located on the Combiaty hillside, producing the Vieilles Vignes and Corentin cuvées. He has also expanded to Mont Brouilly, where he cultivates the Les Feuillées cuvée in the Côte de Brouilly appellation. The Côte de Brouilly vineyard, planted in 1916, features steep, rocky terrain and is home to 100% Gamay vines. All vineyard work is done by hand, with minimal mechanization, and the harvest is manually picked. The wines undergo 8 to 10 days of vatting and are aged in oak barrels, with bottling completed without filtration.
