Domaine de Panisse, Le Mazet, Cotes du Rhone Rouge
The terroir of Domaine de Panisse is composed of clay soils covered with rounded pebbles, similar to Chateauneuf-du-Pape terroir. This outstanding Cotes-du-Rhone is made from old Grenache and old Syrah vines over 60 years of age. A 14 month aging period in barrels and large oak casks brings elegance and complexity. Domaine de Panisse is one of the only winemakers to produce a Côtes-du-Rhône from Southern Rhone with mainly Syrah (60% Syrah-40% Grenache)! So a more spicy, complex, expressive and full-bodied wine with also 14 months ageing in oak barrel. These vines are harvested by hand with the utmost respect for the terroir by Marilou and Axel Vacheron.
