Weingut Johannishof

About the Winery

The vineyards of the Johannishof winery comprise of 20 hectares in the districts of Winkel, Johannisberg, Geisenheim and Rüdesheim. Vineyards are planted with 99% Riesling grapes and 1% Pinot Blanc and are cultivated according to modern standards. The wide flavor-palette of Riesling wines is facilitated by the variety of ground conditions available and development of the wines to full maturity of flavor. Value is placed on achieving a distinctive Riesling character. Gentle and individual treatment of the wine allows the aromas and flavors specific for each year to come into their own. The cool, humid hill-side cellar guarantees optimal maturation and storage conditions.

The Johannishof winery can be found in the famous village of Johannisberg in the Rheingau region, below the Johannisberg Cloister and next to the Elsterbach creek. Johannes and Sabine Eser, the 10th generation of the family, have been managing the destinies of the winery since 1999. We have a choice of up to 50 different wines from 20 vintages. Apart from the base wines, the assortment ranges from a variety of Kabinett (Cabinet) and Spätlese (late harvest) wines over to Charta (typical Rheingau Riesling) and Erstes Gewächs (Grand Cru) to noble sweet wines such as Auslese, Beerenauslese, Trockenbeerenauslese and ice wines. The Weingut Johannishof is a VDP-vinery, produces Charta wines and Erstes Gewächs.
