Fleshy and delicate attack that is particularly charming. The tannins are present yet refined, expressing the high maturity of this plot. The complex finish is always a revelation, with a resurgence of wild fruit aromas, a smoothness and saline quality (due to the marls) that imparts a crisp, fresh and very typical thirst-quenching impression. This signature can be appreciated in all the vintages.

Vignoble des Cabottes, Beaune 1er Cru "Clos de la Mousse" 2023	94 James Suckling Precise, pure and elegant nose of roses, minerals and ripe strawberries. Quite bright and nuanced, with a medium body and fine, taut, minerally tannins. Transparent and tense. Quite long. Drink from 2027. 93 Decanter Approachable and easy to love, with a forward, plummy fruit. The firm-ish tannins in evidence when tasted in June had smoothed out by November to give a silky, softer impression. Clos de la Mousse does not have the most depth of the Beaune premiers crus but lingers pleasantly on the palate. The grapes are from Bouchard’s 3.36ha monopole across the road from Teurons; they are partially destemmed and gently fermented before ageing 16 months in cask, 30% new. 92 Vinous The 2023 Beaune Clos de la Mousse 1er Cru has a more perfumed and floral bouquet, fine purity, perhaps more discrete at first but there is real complexity in situ. The palate is medium-bodied, tensile, quite energetic with more mineralité on the finish compared to the Les Teurons. Classy but it needs 18 months in bottle.
