Val Do Galir

View Winery Website

CVNE keeps working on their Valdeorras project in Virgen del Galir, restoring the old vineyards in Las Ermitas with native Merenzao and Brancellao plants, with new terraced planting of 3,000 square meters in A Malosa, adding new vessels for fermentation (ceramics, concrete and 40-hectoliter and 12-hectoliter foudres) and producing new varietal Brancellao and Sousón wines. They now produce 129,000 bottles. 2023 was challenging for them, another year with heat, but they are very happy with 2024, a cooler year like yesteryear when they got healthy grapes, picked later but the wines are fresh. They are still on their way up, learning and improving every year, replacing the 225-liter barrels for larger formats, 500- and 600-liter barrels and foudres. Wine Advocate
