Syrocco by Alain Graillot

In 1923, a 3000-hectare vineyard was planted on sandy and schist soils in Benslimane, near Casablanca. A winery in traditional North African style followed in 1926. The Domain Ouled Thaleb’s first vintage was in 1927, making it Morocco’s oldest active winery. Mr. Brahim Zniber, owner of Celliers de Meknès, acquired Thalvin in 2001. In 2005, Alain Graillot, a renowned Crozes Hermitage producer, partnered with Thalvin to create Syrocco, now Morocco’s most globally recognized wine. The vineyard benefits from Atlantic breezes and 500-meter altitude, producing a balanced, organic Syrah fermented in concrete vats and aged in tanks and oak barrels.
