Mas Martinet "Ranci Dolc", Priorat

A very special wine, a tribute to history and the traditional way of producing rancio wine in Priorat. A 100% natural sweet Garnacha aged in very old barrels which are more than 100 years old, and with their centenary mothers. The first bottling of this wine was done after 20 years of ageing. A delicate and very appetising jewel, but also exceptionally fine and balanced.

Mas Martinet "Ranci Dolc", Priorat NV	94 Wine Advocate This is the January 2024 bottling of the NV Ranci Dolç de Martinet, which they bottle every three years or so with one-third of the wine in a 650-liter barrel, the last step of a solera. There is a lot of evaporation in three years, so the different bottlings are slightly different and slightly older; this is 25 years old. It has the classical rancio nose of rusty iron, low tide, carob beans and cocoa. Although it has 160 grams of sugar, the sense of sweetness is quite mild but gives it balance that compensates for the volatile acidity (which is high but unnoticeable). It has 15.6% alcohol and eight grams of acidity. It is unusual, very unusual. 200 bottles and 160 half-bottles produced; the price listed is for a full bottle.
