Egeo, Verdejo Rueda White
This wine is produced by Isaac Fernández in partnership with a winery whose modern-day operations began in 1941. The winery is located in the heart of Rueda just south of the Duero river and has over 80 hectares of vineyards.
The 2021 Verdejo “Egeo” is really a lovely example of this vastly underrated varietal. It offers up that grassy aromatic blend that recalls top flight sauvignon blanc, delivering scents of green apple, gooseberry, cut grass, salty soil tones, green olive and a topnote of orange blossoms. On the palate the wine is bright, medium-full and complex, with a fine core of fruit, good soil signature, good acids and a long, well-balanced and gently grassy finish. This is a fine example of Verdejo and a lovely alternative to Sancerre. 2022-2030.
