The 2024 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru is more primal on the nose compared to the Bienvenue, beguiling leesy scents emerging, a little more presence by comparison whilst maintaining delineation. The palate is taut and fresh, plenty of substance, quite vibrant and tensile with more attack and nervosité towards the finish. This is up there with the superb 2023 and the two will vie for supremacy in future years. Just an outstanding Bâtard Montrachet.

The 2022 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru is a touch more exotic than the elegant Bienvenues, delivering aromas of musky peach, toasted nuts, white flowers, mint and struck match, followed by a full-bodied, layered and fleshy palate with a broad attack, lively acids and a gently aromatic finish.

The 2024 Bienvenue-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru has a clean and precise bouquet: just a light reduction, leesy scents percolating through with time, later touches of hazelnut. The palate is fresh on the entry with crisp acidity, quite bright, fine weight and sapidity cohering towards the finish. Focused with a dab of spice on the aftertaste, afford this three or four years in bottle if you can.

The 2024 Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru is exquisitely refined this year, exhibiting notes of vine blossom, sweet Asian pear and citrus oil, followed by a medium- to full-bodied, pure and precise palate. The Bâtard beats it for density and texture, but the Bienvenues is the more elegant.
