Jean-Luc and Anne Mader settled the winery in 1981. Jérôme Mader joined them in 2005 after various training course overseas and a oenological diploma. Then, vineyard and wine production increase year after year. Now in 2023 the Domaine grows 11 Hectares separated in 38 different block spread over 4 villages: Hunawihr (winery), Ribeauvillé, Riquewihr, and Kientzheim. 2 Hectares are situated on the Grand Cru sites (Rosacker and Schlossberg). Two Hectares are also situated on Lieu-dit sites (Muhlforst, Burgweg, Haguenau)

We produce 55,000 bottles per year concentrating on Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir. We also offer Muscat, Gewurtzraminer and Crémant d’Alsace.

We believe in letting the geological diversity of Alsace find full expression in each variety, producing long life wine that taste true to their origins. As such, we turned in 2007 in Biologic growing (organic), relying on low yield and healthy grounds to produce well balanced grapes.

Harvest is always done by hand and we practice whole bunch pressing. After a clean settling, fermentation starts on its own or with selected yeast and last usually more than two months.

All our wines are dry except the Gewurtzraminers and some rare late harvest.

Ecological approach: Ecologist at heart, we began in 2007 to change our practices. At that time our vineyard was converted to organic farming. Subsequently, significant investments were made to reduce our impact on the environment: solar electricity, solar hot water, wood heating, new ecological insulation of cellars, but also fallow biodiversity and low carbon farming process. In 2009 we totally stop using heavy glass bottles for using the lightest bottles and cases available.  All those effort permit us to divide by 3 our electric consumption and stop our gas consumption. Of course we will continue in that direction…
