Laurent Tribut married Marie-Clotilde Dauvissat, daughter of renowned winemaker René Dauvissat, and became part of the family’s winemaking legacy. The Dauvissat family had long acquired exceptional AOC Chablis vineyards, allowing Laurent and Marie-Clotilde to carry on the tradition. Living in a restored farmhouse near Vincent Dauvissat, the couple, along with their children, manage these vineyards. Their daughter, Solange, has also joined the family business as a skilled winemaker.
The domaine spans 12.5 acres, including eight acres of AOC Chablis on prime kimmeridgian soil next to Dauvissat’s vineyards. Laurent also owns premier cru vineyards: Beauroy (2.5 acres), Montmains (0.5 acres), and Côte de Léchet (1.25 acres). They use minimal fertilizers and phytosanitary treatments, with hand-harvested yields of 3.7 tons per acre.
Tribut initially made his wines in the Dauvissat cellars, but now operates his own cellar in Poinchy. He continues traditional methods, using hand-harvesting, temperature-controlled fermentation, and old oak barrels for maturation. The wines are lightly fined and filtered before bottling.
Tribut’s wines are crisp, lively, and well-balanced, with lemony aromas and spicy apple flavors. His AOC Chablis is a benchmark for the region, while his premier crus showcase Chardonnay’s complexity and minerality, requiring 4-5 years of aging to reach their peak. The wines are estate-bottled and sold across Europe, Japan, and the United States.
