Laurent Ponsot, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru "Les Charmes Cuvée du Tilleuil"

The largest climat in the commune is made up of three parcels located in the eastern part of the village of Chambolle-Musigny in the extension of the climat Les Amoureuses. The vineyards are planted on stony limestone and alluvial soil at the bottom of the climat, on a limestone bedrock at an altitude of between 245 and 265 metres, facing south-east. In Burgundy, ‘Les Charmes’ refers to fallow land, in the sense of ‘thatch’, where a few groves of hornbeam, a small hardwood tree perfect for heating, grow. The concentration of the 1er Cru is immediately apparent. Its powerful fruity aromas of cherry and raspberry, its velvety fine tannins and its minerality make this Premier Cru a great gastronomic wine. The body is dense but the tannins have the silkiness of the appellation. The good persistence on the palate is also due to a finely perceptible minerality that stretches the wine and gives it a captivating complexity. This wine will go well with the most sophisticated dishes, such as fine farmhouse poultry and characterful red meats, adding finesse and delicacy.
