Francois Mikulski, Meursault 1er Cru "Poruzots"

This Meursault 1er Cru les Poruzots Dessus vineyard has been operated since 1992 in half sharecropping (50% of the harvest for the owner, 50% of the harvest for the tenant). Its surface area is 62 ares; it faces east on the Meursault hillside. She is around 50 years old.  Its grape varieties are 100% Chardonnay. It is grown in non-certified organic cultivation. Annual production: approximately 2400 bottles.

The subsoil is composed of a brown layer of horizontal silt about thirty centimeters, placed on a base of cracked rock. The silt has infiltrated the rock and allows moisture storage as well as the deep development of the root system.  Our aging with few new barrels (20%) and the rest in barrels of one, two and three wines allows us to preserve the expression of the Terroir. This vine produces an elegant, fine, dynamic wine, more “feminine” than the other 1st growths. A very beautiful minerality is always present, whatever the vintage. It is a wine to drink between 5 and 10 years of age.
