Champagne Delamotte

View Winery Website

Founded in 1760 by François Delamotte in Reims, Champagne Delamotte is one of the oldest Champagne houses, born during the Enlightenment. It began as a family venture with François and his two sons, Alexandre and Nicolas-Louis. François, a vineyard owner in Cumières and a prominent local figure, established the house in his residence on the corner of rue Cérès and rue Marmousets, with cellars beneath the building. The family motto, “Vive et me ama” (Live and love me), became a lasting symbol of the house.

In 1798, Nicolas-Louis Delamotte, after serving as a knight in the Order of Malta, returned to Reims and joined the family business, expanding its reach throughout Europe. By the 20th century, Marie-Louise de Nonancourt revived the house, relocating it to Le Mesnil-sur-Oger in the Côte des Blancs in 1927. Her sons, Charles and Bernard, further developed Delamotte, with Bernard integrating it into the Laurent-Perrier group in 1988, alongside the prestigious Champagne Salon. Since 1997, Didier Depond has led both houses, elevating their reputations worldwide while continuing the family’s legacy.
