Clos Figueras

View Winery Website

Located on the schist-rich slopes of Gratallops, a prime terroir for Priorat’s finest wines, Clos Figueras is expertly managed by René Barbier’s renowned team, overseeing both vineyard care and winemaking. Barbier’s expertise has elevated Clos Figueras to one of the region’s top producers, while its second label, Font de la Figuera, offers exceptional value in the Priorat.

The estate is owned by Christopher Cannan, president of Europvin, a Bordeaux-based wine import company. Cannan, whose portfolio includes prestigious Spanish names like Vega Sicilia and Rioja Alta, acquired Clos Figueras in 1997 on René Barbier’s recommendation. The 10-hectare vineyard is home to 20-year-old Carignan and Grenache vines, used for the flagship Clos Figueres wine. Additionally, vines planted in 1998—comprising 50% Grenache, 20% Syrah, along with Cabernet Sauvignon and Mourvèdre—supply the fruit for Font de la Figuera, producing wines that showcase the depth and complexity of Priorat.
