Chateau Guillot-Clauzel
Château Guillot-Clauzel is a Pomerol estate with a very promising future. It is made by Guillaume Thienpont, the winemaker behind Le Pin and Vieux Château Certan. The estate is tiny, 2.4 hectares sitting on a south facing slope just a few hundred yards from Le Pin itself. Its vines are planted on gravel and clay, including a section of old Merlot vines planted on the blue clay for which the appellation is famous. The estate is owned by Etienne Clauzel, who employed Guillaume Thienpont in 2018, winemaker at Le Pin and VCC, to take over Guillot-Clauzel and manage it on his behalf. It’s fair to say he’s one of the most talented winemakers out there and this is a wine to watch closely.
