Nice dark garnet color with brown to mauve shades. Complex bouquet associating perfumes of jammy red fruit, fig, peony with a hint of chocolate. Harmonious and deep palate, with a beautiful maturity and dense but fine tannins. An attractive wine.

Bouchard Pere & Fils, Beaune du Château 1er Cru Rouge 2021	90 James Suckling An intense sage aroma is married to bright red berry fruit – redcurrant, raspberry and cranberry – plus a healthy dose of well-crafted tannins on the medium-bodied palate. Good length with some interesting savory character at the finish. Just about drinkable now, but a bit more time in bottle would help. Drinkable now, but best from 2025. Bouchard Pere & Fils, Beaune du Château 1er Cru Rouge 2022	93 Decanter The 2022 edition of Bouchard’s Beaune du Château is deeply coloured and redolent of ripe blackberry and plum fruit with hints of earth, smoke, and spice. The great purity of the fruit aromas is allied with a seductive sweetness on the palate that leads to a firm, tannic structure and a lingering finish. The grapes are blended from 17 different premier cru climats in Beaune; roughly one-third are fermented as whole clusters, and the wine is ageing now in cask (one-third new) — altogether delightful. 92 Wine Advocate Some of the best terroirs of Beaune are blended together to produce the 2022 Beaune 1er Cru du Château, a medium to full-bodied, supple and pure wine evocative of peonies, sweet spices and red berries.
