By 1995, the Álvarez family had already made its mark in the wine world, building on the success of their flagship estate, Vega Sicilia, and their new project, Alión. With these achievements, they set their sights on expanding further. After a year of careful research, they confirmed that Spain’s Duero River region was ideal for their next venture. This led them to the Toro denomination of origin, located 100 kilometers downstream from Ribera del Duero.
As with all TEMPOS Vega Sicilia wines, the harvest is done by hand, with grapes collected in 12-kg boxes. Once at the winery, the fruit undergoes a 12-hour cold rest to preserve its intensity. A double sorting process follows: the first to discard unsuitable bunches, and the second to remove any substandard berries. The grapes then undergo a 5-day cold maceration before fermenting in oak vats, ensuring the highest quality and expression of the region.
