Founded in 2017 by Giulia Monteleone and her husband winemaker, Benedetto Alessandro, Monteleone is a premier micro-estate on the northern slopes of Mount Etna. The winery produces site specific, terroir-driven wines from the distinct volcanic soils of 3 Contradas – Cuba, Sciambro, and Pontale Palino. The crown jewel of their production is the Etna Rosso “Rumex”, a bottling sourced from pre-phylloxera, 120+ year old Nerello Mascalese vineyards in Pontale Palino, rendering a wine of immense depth and precision. All their wines are defined by their crystalline minerality, saline freshness, depth, and precision that has quickly earned them a reputation as one of the most exciting young producers in the Etna DOC.
