Sea, smoke and fire: three elemental forces that have defined the wines of Mt. Etna since the dawn of viticulture in Sicily. There, generations of vintners have been negotiating with the awe-inspiring power of this active volcano to bring us some of the finest wines in the world. Monteleone is one such winery.
Join us at Cucina Morini for an exciting opportunity to experience this marriage of resplendent nature and resilient nurture. Hosted by the eponymous Giulia Monteleone, presenting her finest vintages, and curated by Chris Wilson, our resident sommelier, join us as we explore the wines of Mt. Etna. While you sip, you’ll enjoy a delicious four-course menu designed by none other than DC’s very own Chef Matt Adler, in what we promise will be an evening to remember!

Monteleone’s story centers around Giulia Monteleone, her father Enrico, and her partner Benedetto Alessandro, a professional winemaker. Though not a traditional family business, the shared passion for tending vineyards and crafting wine has deeply intertwined their lives.
Their journey began in July 2017, when they discovered a two-hectare vineyard near the Alcantara River, at the base of Mount Etna, just 30 meters from the historic Byzantine Cuba di Santa Domenica. On that hot summer day, the vineyard’s beauty and atmosphere dispelled any doubts. Inspired by this location, they embarked on their winemaking adventure.
Since then, they have focused on expanding with new vineyards, laying the foundation for future wines. Their story is still unfolding, with the most exciting chapters yet to be written.
