Chateau Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande

View Winery Website

Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande, a prominent estate in Pauillac, stands out for its “feminine” and “sensuous” wines, diverging from the region’s typical powerful Bordeaux. This softness is partly due to a high proportion of Merlot (35%) and its history of influential women like Therese de Rauzan, Germaine de Lajus, and Marie Branda de Terrefort. Virginnie, Comtesse de Lalande, built the château in 1850, leading to its Second Growth classification in 1855. In 1978, May-Eliane de Lencquesaing elevated its reputation with wines known for rich texture, elegant fruit, and a heady perfume of tobacco, earth, and cassis.
