Chateau Lafite Rothschild
Château Lafite Rothschild, with a history dating back to the 14th century, was first mentioned in 1234 when owned by the Abbaye de Vertheuil. In the 17th century, the estate was purchased by the Ségur family, with Jacques de Ségur transforming it into a renowned wine producer by 1695. Lafite gained fame across Europe, with notable admirers like Sir Robert Walpole, who favored their 1732 and 1733 vintages. In 1787, the Rothschild family acquired the estate, elevating its reputation and modernizing winemaking in Bordeaux. Today, Château Lafite Rothschild is celebrated worldwide for its prestigious red wines, made primarily from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot.
