It is straw yellow in color with greenish tones of good consistency. Simple but not banal, with a typical olfactory appearance reminiscent of white peach, elderberry and hawthorn. Beautiful structure for a fresh and savory wine, yet soft on the palate, with a good alcoholic backbone and the characteristic bitter almond finish (typical varietal).
90pts Vinous– 2019 vintage
“ The 2019 Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico from Sartarelli continues to be a benchmark wine in this category, coming from the estate’s younger vines and vinified all in stainless steel, resulting in a beautiful representation of varietal character. White peach, spring florals, hints of almond and sea air all can be found, as well as soft textures offset by stimulating minerality and green citrus. It’s an energetic wine that relies more on its savory, salty poise than fruit, and it stays with you for well over a minute. If you seek to understand the purity of Verdicchio fruit this is certainly a great place to start.”
90pts Vinous– 2020 vintage
There’s a pretty and pleasant sweetness to the 2020 Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico that keeps you coming back to the glass, as nuances of almond and vanilla bean give way to white flowers and freshly sliced pear. It’s soft-textured, almost creamy in feel, with a captivating mix of minerals and lime motivated by brilliant acidity. This leaves the palate reverberating with mouthwatering tension, and it leaves you thirsty for another salty sip. It’s amazing to think that this is the entry-level Verdicchio from Sartarelli. Well done.
