This is a medium-bodied blended red wine with an expressive nose and a soft, lush mouth-feel. Shiraz gives ripe plum and dark fruit notes on the nose and palate . Grenache softens the palate, adding floral notes and together with the Shiraz forms the backbone of the blend . Mourvedre adds complexity with savory leather and spice aromas . Cinsault gives red fruit notes and a soft, lush mouth-feel to the final blend . Overall, the wine shows depth and finesse, but with gentle tannins .

The 2020 Essay Shiraz / Cinsault / Mourvedre / Grenache is made from 59% Syrah, 17% Cinsault, 14% Grenache and 10% Mourvedre. On the nose, the wine offers a fresh and dark-fruited frame with classic notes of black pepper, roasted herbs and smoked lavender before hints of black cherry skin and earth sway in unison. Medium-bodied, the wine displays a balanced structure with a straightforward mouthfeel before concluding with an uncomplicated and easy-drinking finish. For the price point, you should keep a case on hand.
