Priorat

About

The secret behind the excellent wines of the district is an excellent terroir, but also the fact that over the last decades the winemakers in Priorat have modernized the winemaking process.

Today Priorat is the only Spanish wine district together with Rioja that has obtained the prestigious “qualified” denomination.  These grapes are often combined with Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah in the area.

Climate

Summers are long, hot and dry,  winters are cold . There is the occasional risk of frost, hailstones and drought. The average annual temperature is 15 °C, and average annual rainfall is 400–600 mm. 

Soil

Volcanic origin, llcorella, black slate & mica.

Grapes

Garnacha Blanca, Macabeo, Pedro Ximenez, Viognier
