Intensely pigmented colour of ruby. Floral and fruity aroma on a background of toasted notes from the cask. On the palate it’s expansive and develops beautifully. The notes in its aroma are now complemented by hints of bay and mint.
93pts Vinous– 2017 vintage
The 2017 Carignan VIGNO is 100% Carignan from old vines from a dry-farmed vineyard in Huerta de Maule. Overseen by oenologist Eduardo Jordán, it is aged for 12 months in Italian foudres and then for another year in bottle. Bright reddish-purple in the glass. The ripe nose includes blackberry and wildflowers plus jasmine, black tea and balsamic notes. In the mouth, it’s relaxed with fine, juicy but reactive tannins. Will improve greatly in the bottle.
93pts Wine Advocate– 2017 vintage
The aromatic and expressive 2017 Vigno was produced with grapes from Melozal and Huerta de Maule. It has good ripeness, 14.5% alcohol and very good freshness that makes it vibrant and refreshing. It matured in French barriques, 34% of them new, for 14 months. It’s still a little too oaky for my taste, perhaps a little more noticeable this year. 37,300 bottles produced. It was bottled in December 2019.
