Medium red. Aromas of iron, tobacco, brown spices, earth and game. Fairly rich and sweet, with plenty of volume and breadth.  The seductive, intense color of this red wine is enhanced by a beautiful flash of violet. The nose, intense, and slightly wild, becomes more complex when aerated, with floral notes of clove. The palate is ample, characterised by a beautiful mineral presence. Although the tannins are over-firm in the young wine, they mellow with age.

The liveliness and length on the palate are accompanied by red fruit notes in retro-olfaction. This wine, with more texture than consistency, has a frank minerality that refreshes the palate with a pleasantly saline finish. It will go well with cooked meats such as sliced beef with black mushrooms and soy reduction, a side of beef and its juices with grape must, a filet mignon of pork with sweet and sour sauce, or a haunch of venison.

N/Apts BURGHOUND– 2014 vintage

FOR THE 2014 VINTAGE
(87-90) Once again there is a lovely sense of energy to the intense, delineated, and almost pungently mineral medium weight flavors that deliver fine persistence if only moderate depth on the otherwise balanced finale.

Lovely and less austere than many youthful examples of Fixin.

N/Apts BURGHOUND– 2015 vintage

FOR THE 2015 VINTAGE
This is markedly different as the expressive and cooler nose is much more floral with its violet, lavender and rose petal nuances that add a touch of elegance to the earth, cassis and plum scents.

There is good punch to the markedly rich, sappy and palate coating flavors that possess a generous mouth feel before terminating in a mildly austere finish of reasonably good persistence

91pts Wine Spectator– 2015 vintage

FOR THE 2015 VINTAGE
Well-structured, juicy and bursting with energy, showing cherry, raspberry and spice flavors, with stony, chalky notes. Though this red is firm, the lively acidity drives the long, mouthwatering finish. Best from 2021 through 2030. 420 cases made.
