The 2018 Ze Rozé from Escalette is top heavy with some of the better parcels that are typically used for their red wines. A hailstorm struck in July and in order to maintain the quality of their best red wines they chose many parcels to go through a severe triage and straight into the press, like all the grapes they use for the rosé.
The result is a rosé with even more complexity than usual due to the superior quality of the vineyards that make up this year’s final blend. It’s more textured and supple than usual but still maintains exceptional natural acidity at a pH 3.28. Delphine thinks it’s the best rosé they’ve made. This year is a blend of 60% Grenache (the depth), 30% Cinsault (the bright aromas) and 10% Carignan (the flesh).
