Developing w. black cherryblackberrycassis, leather & tobacco. Christmas spice of clove & anise, black pepper & granitic earthy notes.  Pronounced flavours of ripe black cherry, damson, blackcurrant, chocolate, loganberry, coffee grinds, black pepper & a powerful, rich & concentrated long finish.

Shelf Talker

Tech Sheet

93-95pts Vinous – 2019 vintage

A complex, deeply perfumed bouquet evokes ripe dark berries, cherry liqueur, potpourri and olive, along with a spicy quality that builds with air. Displays impressive energy and focus to the deep-pitched black/blue fruit and floral pastille flavors courtesy of a core of minerality that builds in the glass. Finishes appealingly sweet and very long, with building tannins and lingering floral and mineral notes.

Stéphane Robert wishes that he had gotten more fruit in 2019, “of course,” but what he did pick was “extremely high-quality, with both ripeness and high acidity.” While the skins of the grapes were thicker than usual, “they weren’t leathery and we didn’t get raisining, so it’s not the style of a typically hot year. There’s a lot more life there than what you might expect if you just look at the weather.”
