ABOUT LA MANCHA

La Mancha, arid but largely fertile elevated plateau formed over limestone in central Spain, stretching between the Toledo Mountains and the western spurs of the Cuenca hills and bounded by the La Alcarria region to the north and the Sierra Morena to the south. It includes portions of the provinces of Cuenca, Toledo, and Albacete and most of Ciudad Real.

CLIMATE

Continental and ranges from extremes of -15°C in winter to 45°C in summer. Drought is also common. Annual rainfall is about 300 to 400 mm.

High in Limestone & Chalk

THE GRAPES

Red: Cencibel, Pinot Noir, Graciano, Malbec, Garnacha Tinta, Moravía Dulce / Crujidera, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Mencía, Monastrell, Petit Verdot, Bobal, and Syrah
White: Airén, Moscatel de Grano Menudo, Macabeo / Viura, Chardonnay, Sauvignon blanc, Parellada, Pedro Ximénez, Riesling, Torrontés, Verdejo, Viognier, and Gewürztraminer.[
